Father Giovani of Croatian Relief Services, a charity organization that has been providing support to Haiti each time the country faced natural disaster, has provided assistance for shipment of goods to Jacmel to be distributed by Fondation Opportunite (www.fondop.org)

 

Action for Haiti sent two shipments to Jacmel comprised of 72 boxes of food, clothing, hygienic and other miscellaneous items.  Our boxes contained food items such as  flour, sugar, beans, cooking oil, salt, ramen soups, pasta, oatmeal, powdered milk, chocolate powder, crackers, etc., toiletries such as tooth paste, tooth brushes, shampoos, conditioner, bath soaps, deodorants, combs, tampons, razors etc. and also clothing, shoes, school supplies, bed sheets, rain gears air mattresses and other miscellaneous items.

Difficulties to get goods to the remote areas and the exorbitant customs cost forced us to stop shipments.  We now concentrate on sponsoring children to attend school in the remote and most needed areas – currently around Jacmel.

 

Note: Action for Haiti members contributed $500 to Croatian Relief Services towards transportation and customs charges.
